Johannesburg – The SA Weather Service is warning of heavy downpours and flooding in many provinces tis coming weekend.
Rainy and cold conditions are expected to set in from Friday and last until Sunday.
Affected provinces include the eastern parts of the Northern and Eastern Cape, Free State, North West, Gauteng, KwaZulu Natal and the Highveld region of Mpumalanga.
The weather service said the agricultural sector, infrastructure and informal settlements are likely to be affected by localised flooding.
It is also warning of disruptions to beachfront activities and damage to infrastructure along the coastal region between Port Alfred and Sodwana.
The public is urged to avoid crossing rivers and swollen streams, especially where the water is more than ankle-deep.
