Johannesburg – The Congress of Traditional Leaders (Contralesa) says it’s sad that Chief Thandisizwe Diko II died before he could clear the matter linking his company to alleged corruption.
Royal Bhaca Projects got a R125-million PPE tender by the Gauteng Health Department.
Contralesa in the Eastern Cape has paid tribute to Diko, who passed away at an East London Hospital on Sunday afternoon.
Provincial chairperson Nkosi Mwelo Nonkonyana says he hopes the chief’s name will be cleared in time.
“He was very concerned about what is going on in the media about the PPEs,” Nonkonyana said.
“He consulted with us, he said he was being vilified in the media and said he did nothing wrong.
“We are very sad he passed on before it could be resolved. We hope presumption of innocence will prevail because we don’t want any dark cloud to hang over what he did for the community,” said Nonkonyana.
“We can only hope one day his name will be cleared.
